Why Goats?
Goats love eating weeds!
As goats munch on brush and invasive species near and around your home, they clear away unwanted weeds, dead brush and leaves and allow natural grasses to recover. Goats actually prefer weeds to grass. Thistle, leafy spurge, mullein, cheat grass are just a few that are on their list of delicacies. They will also feast on brush and the lower limbs of pine trees. Many studies have compared the action of goat browsing to the low intensity fires that used to burn naturally and regularly in our wooded areas and plains in helping to maintain a healthy balance in our ecosystem and to return nutrients back into the soil. They are also more environmentally friendly than gas-powered weed whackers!
